Perforating guns used inside oil wells can be triggered based on RFID tags placed in oil wells thus eliminating the need to haul expensive gamma ray equipment. Active tags without batteries can be used to record and hold valve safety records that can be audited at a predetermined frequency thus increasing safety of pipelines.
